Doctor and dentist survey
From September 2023 to December 2024, child surveys continue with a new survey called "Physician and Dental Surgeon". This survey is set up as part of the health care program for all children living in France, covered at 100% by the Assurance Maladie (excluding excess fees).. It includes a medical and dental visit to the child by the doctor and dentist of his or her choice..
The Elfe "Doctor and dentist" survey uses this program to gather information on children's health. It represents a unique opportunity for research to gather medical information directly from health professionals. The survey will also provide public authorities with an assessment of the effectiveness of the system.
A survey associated with the health check-ups of the Assurance Maladie
In septembre 2023,families living in France received the survey documents by mail from the Elfe team to participate.
- Families are invited to complete a short questionnaire of 6 to 11 questions online. The purpose of these questions is to inform us whether the child has already made this visit or has recently seen a doctor, to provide us with the contact details of the doctor the families wish to consult, or to indicate that the parents or the child do not wish to make these medical or dental visits.
STAGE 1 : If the medical visits within the context of the health care program with Assurance Maladie have already been done, that's the end of the process.
STAGE 2 : If the medical visits have not yet been held...
- Step 1 : The Elfe team sends a letter to the family doctor for informing him or her of the ongoing survey.
- Step 2 : The family makes an appointment with the chosen health professionals (doctor and dentist).
- Step 3 : The day of the medical visit, the family brings the paper questionnaire attached to the initial letter to the doctor or the dentist.
- Step 4 :After the visit, the family returns the questionnaires completed by the doctor or the dentist to the Elfe team by post.
Focus – Survey with the doctor
During the medical visit, families give the doctor a questionnaire that has been drawn up with GPs and pediatricians to guide the consultation. The aim is to identify pathologies more specific to this age group (scoliosis, eating disorders, abnormal pubertal development, etc.), update vaccinations and provide preventive recommendations. A learning assessment is also available, based on 3 short tests, to identify written language and mathematical disorders at the start of secondary school, which may require special treatment..
Focus – The survey with the dentist
A dental check-up at the age of 12 is part of the MT'dents program offered by the French health insurance scheme. At the appointment, the family presents the Elfe questionnaire to the dentist. This questionnaire is designed to identify caries lesions, enamel defects, periodontal health, use of fluoride-free toothpastes and maxillofacial growth anomalies. This survey with the dentist will enhance the Elfe cohort's health data and provide an advanced oral assessment, not forgetting of course the direct benefits for the child.
